Topic: Overcoming a Poverty Mentality
3 John v.2 – Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
3 Component of our Soul: (1) Emotions (2) Will (3) Mind
“To have a prosperous soul is to have a will that is aligned to God.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 – casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
“Spiritual prosperity is more of an attitude than a financial status.”
“a poverty mentality is a mindset people have that they will never have enough and are always in danger of lack.”
Signs of Poverty Mentality
1.) You focus more on what you don’t have rather than what you have.
2.) You think you can never afford things.
3.) You think you are the victim of circumstances.
4.) You think things will never change.
5.) You have a bad attitude towards people who are prospering and are successful.
How to Deal with Poverty Mentality
1.) Be Thankful to God at all times.(Psalms 103:1-2)
2.) Look to God as your source of abundant supply. (Philippians 4:19; 2 Corinthians 9:8; Galatians 3:14)
3.) Pray to God (Philippians 4:6; 1 Chronicles 4:9 – The Story of Jabez)
4.) Have Faith in God (Mark 9:23)
5.) Walk in Love (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
